Procrastination

I swear I’m not goofing off and ignoring my capstone, it’s just that I need the mental clarity that comes with something more artistic and less mathematical. I think if I say it enough times I’ll even believe it. While I should be working on Levenstein distances, corpus tagging, and slapping together a reasonably robust Flask API, I find myself instead drawn to music. I’ve finally got a little space where I can practice without annoying the neighbors too much, so I’ve been flocking to that after work.

Music, I find, helps me reset my brain. Long day, stressful day, but somehow playing for an hour clears my head. The last week has pulled out two entirely different ideas: A cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, and some sort of acidy techno thing. Garageband is far too much power for any mortal to wield. Maybe I need to dig in to AI music generation?
